“As the Artistic Director for the Cincinnati Contemporary Jazz Orchestra, Eric’s compositions and arrangements are nothing short of amazing. Not only does he write beautifully, but Eric thrills audiences with the unexpected. Whether it's a lush ballad or a straight ahead finger-popper, his charts take the listener to places they didn't expect but are so happy they came. He honors the very finest composers and arrangers in jazz and I fully expect that, one day, his name will be mentioned in their company. For those of us in Cincinnati, it already is.”
"Eric is the most communicative arranger I have ever worked with! His arrangements are always idiomatic to the selected instruments, well-orchestrated, and easy to read so that rehearsal time is not wasted. If something is not right, he will put in the extra hours to fix it."
“I commissioned Eric for an original big band composition in the Spring of 2021 for the Lakota Eastside Jazz Orchestra and I couldn’t have been more thrilled with the entire process. Eric was incredibly attentive, professional, and timely in his communication and delivered an excellent composition that was well-suited to the needs and abilities of my ensemble. The score and parts were easy to read and formatted clearly which made for a positive rehearsal process for preparing this composition for performance. If you are looking to commission an original big band composition or arrangement for your ensemble, I give Eric my highest recommendation.”
“Eric Lechliter is an amazing composer and arranger who always infuses his works with unique creativity while retaining a link to the most important elements of the jazz tradition. His writing contains that magic mix of surprise, adventure, complexity, simplicity, and playability that allows the performers to dig deep into their artistry.”
